Imagine Together: Enough for All

During the season of Eastertide (April 1-May 18 this year), we focus on our Stewardship and how we collectively support the overall ministry of United Parish, as we “Imagine Together” how we make an impact in the world around us.

For over a decade, we have enjoyed a collaboration with Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland. The relationship between our two communities is rooted in the friendship and collegiality of our Music Minister Susan and TST’s Cantor Hollis, and the music-making and friendship between both congregations’ choirs.

This weekend, we celebrate this relationship again, with shabbat services in Wayland beginning at 6:15pm (livestream here) and Sunday morning worship at United Parish at 11am. We will also celebrate with receptions after each worship.

It’s been a hard six months for our Jewish friends and colleagues. The devastating attack on October 7, the ongoing vigil for the hostages, the devastation of Gaza, the unrest on college campuses, the continued rise of anti-Semitism near and far, the ways all of this has unleashed new waves of hate and retribution all over the world.

This weekend, our choirs will remind us of the sweetness and harmony of true face-to-face relationships, of being in solidarity around our common humanity and in recognition of whatever differences we have. Rabbi Danny will speak on Sunday morning and we’ll hear his perspective on what it means to “imagine together” the power of community and interfaith relationships. We’ll look at Isaiah 55, as well as some other passages that speak to the power of welcoming the stranger and building loving communities. Our choirs will lead us in songs about the promise of love rising again.

Come for the music, come for the message, come for the community, come for human solidarity.

In faith,
Kent
