Take-Home Questions
As your spiritual practice this week, read Colossians 3:14–17:
And over all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. The peace of Christ must control your
hearts—a peace into which you were called in one body. And be thankful people. The word of Christ must live
in you richly. Teach and warn each other with all wisdom by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing
to God with gratitude in your hearts. Whatever you do, whether in speech or action, do it all in the name of
the Lord Jesus and give thanks to God through him.
Why do you think Paul puts such an emphasis on gratitude in his letter to the church at
Colossae?
What roles do love and gratefulness play in the life of the community of believers?
Reflect on the role of gratitude in your own life and that of your family and faith
community.

Spiritual Practice
Choose a consistent time each day to speak words of gratitude to God. Take a piece of
string or yarn roughly 2 ft in length and wrap it loosely around your finger 10 times,
naming silently one thing you are grateful for as you make each loop. Slowly unwrap
the yarn from your finger as you give thanks to God in prayer.
