United Parish Partners with Brookline Porchfest

Signing UP for an Exciting New Opportunity

As we continue to listen and find new ways to answer our call to connect and serve within and outside of our United Parish walls, we are excited to share a new opportunity with you.

After thoughtful deliberation with Council and the Gathering team, we will not host the Strawberry Festival this year, but will instead reinvigorate and strengthen our engagement with Brookline Porchfest, which will be held on September 28. Learn more at https://www.brooklineporchfest.org/bands/.

Partnering with Brookline Porchfest serves our church’s vision, deepens our community impact, and supports our need for more sustainable and manageable projects by:

• Offering potential for impactful community engagement on a day when our neighbors are out and seeking connection.
• Creating an opportunity to showcase the vibrant music and other performing arts programming created by our music ministry and building users.
• Leveraging connections we have with the Porchfest planning team to maximize the impact of our lawn, potentially creating a hub for Porchfest activities.
• Raising awareness and impact of the organizations we house that serve our community (Thrifty Threads, Brookline Food Pantry, etc.).
• Serving our community in a way that engages many aspects of our church, following the successful model set forth by the Thanksgiving Dinner Team.
• Pairing our promotion efforts with the ongoing efforts of Brookline Porchfest– we aren’t doing it alone!

It is for these reasons (but not these reasons alone) that we have decided to focus our efforts and explore all the possibilities and benefits that partnering with Brookline Porchfest can offer.
