Statement Affirming Trans People

We are sad to report that on Saturday, June 3, 2023, someone once again burned and destroyed the Transgender pride flag on our front lawn. We have reported this to Brookline Police. (You can read about the previous incident here.) This, and other blasphemous acts of hatred like it, have no place in the world that we believe God calls us to create- a world without oppression based on gender, race, or religion (Galatians 3:28), a world where everyone has enough (Luke 1:52-53), and a world where forgiveness and justice flow abundantly (Matthew 6:10-12). As leaders, we want to be clear in… Read More

Thanksgiving 2022

Instead of our usual in-person community Thanksgiving meal, we are once again excited to partner with the Brookline Food Pantry to support their efforts in providing groceries to members of the community. Free meal kits will be available for pickup during the week of Thanksgiving. These meal kits will include the raw ingredients to make an entire Thanksgiving dinner at home. We are not providing pre-cooked meals. Recipients will need to cook for themselves. Meal kits do not include… Read More

Update on the Thanksgiving Meal – 2022

After careful and prayerful consideration, the Stretching into Justice Team wants to advise the United Parish Community that United Parish will not be hosting the Community-wide Thanksgiving Dinner this year. Simply put, we do not have the leadership or bandwidth to organize a sit-down dinner for roughly 200 people. Nor have we been successful in finding someone within the congregation to take on this substantial leadership role. It became clear that the role played by our former tenant, Catering to You, was very significant. They had loaned us various items including large pots and place settings which we would have… Read More

Share your feedback with the Hearts and Hands Ministry Team

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10 After more than 12 years of service to members of the United Parish congregation, the Hearts and Hands Ministry team is in need of ideas and suggestions on how we can best update our program and successfully engage more people as care givers and as “users”. As an active group of volunteers we appreciate this opportunity to get to know others in the congregation better while taking on tasks that suit our individual schedules and interests…. Read More
