What is The Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO) up to these days? After its success in getting dramatically more funding authorized by the 2024 State Legislature for public housing, GBIO has been working to strengthen connections across our 60 congregations as we look now to launching our Listening Campaign, which is our way of working toward a new grass-roots campaign for justice issues of importance to our members. The next step is a formal launch of the Listening Campaign on Monday, March 3, when the core teams of our congregations will gather to start this process which will include some upcoming trainings in organizing and building our power. Several of your United Parish GBIO Core Team members, including Rev. Kent, will join this meeting. Stay tuned for future happenings.
In addition, GBIO has been following up on monitoring the state’s actual expenditures on public housing badly needed maintenance and renovations, and on further work on behalf of returning citizens, which is being led in part by our own Mark Jones. And the recently completed fundraising campaign cleared its $250,000 goal, and we thank those at United Parish who participated!
In these difficult times, connections across our faith communities like GBIO provides are vitally important.
Thanks to the congregation for your support of GBIO.
