Stewardship 2024

last updated April 18, 2024

We invite you to make your financial commitment to the ministries and missions of United Parish.

We encourage you to pray, reflect, dream, and discuss your decision during Stewardship Season. Then complete the Commitment Form online or on paper by May 19, 2024, Consecration Sunday. The responses to the form will go to our Stewardship and Budget Ministry Team. The information is very important for our budget planning as we imagine together the next year for United Parish. Please note, this form does not set up your donation. You will need to do that at a later time.

To complete the Commitment Form online, click the green button below. If you need assistance, please contact stewardship@upbrookline.org or call the Church Office at 617-277-6860.

Click here to read a letter from our Stewardship Team, and see all of the great work United Parish is up to through our Ministries here!

We also invite you to make a pledge of your time and talent this Stewardship Season. Learn more about getting involved here, and make your pledge here. You can also complete your Time and Talent Pledge Form on Realm. See instructions for the onrealm.org website here and for the Realm Connect app here. Contact discernment@upbrookline.org with any questions.

Thank you for your faith-filled commitment to United Parish!

About Stewardship at United Parish

Church provides us with so many good things: community, a place to grow spiritually, opportunities to pause and reflect on what life is all about, ways to serve others and work for social justice. In order to offer these good things, churches, like all community and spiritual organizations, require the resources to employ a staff, maintain a building, sustain ministries and programs, and give back to the wider world.

Sharing our resources in common and giving generously are at the heart of the Christian faith.

Our Jewish sisters and brothers were instructed to give a tenth, or a tithe, of their possessions back to God (Deuteronomy 14:22-29, Leviticus 27:30-34, 2 Chronicles 31:5-12). Paul wrote the church in Corinth, “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7, New Living Translation adapted).

Giving something back to God, usually by way of the causes that promote and do God-work in the world, is a spiritual practice, just like prayer, worship, meditation, Bible study, faith conversations, serving others.

United Parish, like many churches, has an annual stewardship campaign held each Spring, in which we ask our members and friends to make pledges, annual commitments, with which we shape a planning budget for the fiscal year ahead (July 1-June 30). This is an important part of our common life together.

Thank you for your support of United Parish. May God bless all of us in our giving and receiving.

End of Life / Legacy Giving Resources:

Wills & Wishes workshops engage our United Parish community in conversation about end-of-life planning  — the emotional and spiritual considerations as well as medical, financial, and legal issues. The Legacy Giving and Adult Deepening teams have compiled the attached End of Life / Legacy Planning Resources Binder that is now available to the United Parish community in electronic form and in a loose-leaf binder in the Church Office. The binder link is here and it includes:

  • Key Content from Workshop Sessions
  • “End-of-life Questions To Discuss With Your Family & Other Loved Ones” – These conversation starters were very popular when introduced for small group discussion in the workshops.
  • Web Resources – key organizations, information, and worksheets
  • Book Suggestions

Wills & Wishes workshops and a Resource Binder were designed to complement the United Parish Legacy Giving Program. Questions and comments on the resources binder are welcome at legacygiving@upbrookline.org.
