Dear Members and Friends of United Parish,
As we draw nearer to the end of 2024, I am (characteristically) overwhelmed with gratitude for all that you do for United Parish. Your generous contributions of time, talent, and treasure are a true blessing to our community, helping us to spread hope and joy throughout the year. For those of you who might have an interest in sharing a gift before the end of the tax year, I wanted to take a moment to share some information about various available giving options:
-
Tax-Deductible Contributions: If you itemize your deductions, please remember that your gifts to United Parish are tax-deductible to the extent allowable. Our Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 04-2458504.
-
Qualified Charitable Donations from IRAs: For those of you with Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), consider making a Qualified Charitable Donation (QCD). Such donations are deducted from your taxable income, up to the annual limit, and can include your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
-
Donations of Investment Holdings: United Parish also accepts donations of appreciated securities. If you choose to donate these, your contribution will be valued at fair market value and, generally speaking, the appreciation will not be subject to capital gains tax. Reach out for more information!
If you do choose to make a year-end contribution, we kindly encourage you to make your donations sooner rather than later to ensure we have ample time to process them before year-end. Jim and I will be in the office on December 20, 23, and 24, and I will be available via email for the remainder of the year.
If you have any questions about these giving options or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me (
treasurer@upbrookline.org) or Jim (
finance@upbrookline.org). We are here to help and appreciate your thoughtful consideration of these opportunities. Naturally, we recommend consulting with your tax advisor on how charitable giving may apply to your specific circumstances.
Thank you for being a vital part of our congregation and for your continued generosity and support. May your holiday season be filled with peace, joy, and the warmth of community.
Wishing you a blessed and joyful Christmas season,
Tyler Smith
Treasurer, United Parish
