God’s expansive welcome through Jesus Christ is for all people – young and old; women and men; gay and straight; churched and unchurched; and of all races, backgrounds, and ways of life. We are called together to embody Christ’s love in the world: this is what it means to us to be the church.
We gladly extend God’s welcome through this online doorway to United Parish in Brookline. We look forward to welcoming you in person. Located in the vibrant heart of Brookline in Coolidge Corner, we are a congregation born of three different churches who in 1970 came together as one parish. Today we continue the rich worship traditions and denominational connections of all three of the original churches – the United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, and the American Baptist Church.
And we are continually creating something new. Wherever you are on your faith journey, you are welcome here.
Many at United Parish have heard God’s call, not just to go to church, but to do and be church together. We travel together on our individual faith journeys and seek God together. United Parish envisions our church community through these four directions:
United Parish in Brookline responds with joy, energy, and imagination to God’s call to proclaim and to live the Good News of Jesus Christ. We seek to express God’s radical hospitality through the inclusion of all kinds of people in the community of faith. United Parish understands part of its prophetic witness to be advocacy for the full participation of LGBTQ people in the life and leadership of our three denominations and in our local church life. We also express this welcome through worship services, educational activities, and fellowship that bring together children, teenagers, elders, and everyone in between.
We hope that this website is a warm welcome to United Parish and a tool for exploring how God may be calling you to journey with us. You can also read more in our Welcome Brochure or check out our Welcome Video.
May God’s grace and peace be with you.
